6 Months to 1 Year Babies
Between the ages of 6 months to 1 year, almost all babies can get themselves into the sitting position without support. About half of the eight months olds can pull themselves to a standing position. Once the infant can pull him/her self to a standing position, he or she can probably move about by holding onto fixed objects, such as tables, chairs, and crib sides.

Most of the eight month babies are quite expert crawlers, and tend to rely on this mode of moving around as to explore the environment. Crawling is the primary means by which an infant between the age of six months to 1 year gets to things and sometimes to the amusement of the parents ‘into’ things as well.

At this age, the infant is quite strong in grasping things into his/her hands, and almost all of them can also pass things from one hand to the other. Infants at this age enjoy interaction games a lot and like to have the attention of their parents on them at all times.

Some of the most favorite games of infants at this age are handing toys or objects to adults and then receiving them back, another one is to drop objects and then ask the adult to pick it up and hand it over to them. Infants at times continue these games till they tire or find some other amusing activity of the same sort for themselves.

As for food, by this time, the infant will be taking three meals a day, with an additional milk feed first thing in the morning or late at night. He/she will probably have some teeth, and will enjoy biting on pieces of food. Be sure to watch the infant, as it is likelihood that he/she will stuff things into the mouth and be in danger of choking. Infants by now have learnt to drink liquids from a cup and mostly mothers stop breast feeding by this age and start dairy milk for their babies.

Mostly babies start to walk without any assistance by the time of their first birthday. There is, however, a large range in months between infants as to when they start to walk. Walking provides the infant with more freedom and movement and the infant is now actively involved in many things, therefore, care and precaution are a mandatory part of the parents life now, as the infant will want to explore everything within reach. The world is now open to the little individual and everything interests him. The infant now learns new things with the passage of every hour, and is extremely interested in the environment around him.
