Baby Sleep Safety - Things You Should Know

* Make baby comfortable while sleeping. Place him/her on back. Cot death has been closely linked to children sleeping on their tummies.
* Don't sleep with your baby on same bed. Place baby in her own cot.
* Be sure to have baby's cot in your room during first six months.
* Don't sleep with your baby on sofa.
* Dress baby comfortably, lightly (in accordance with the weather).
* Avoid placing cot near fire or sunlight area.
* Don't put a hot water bottle or heater on to the cot.
* Remember to clean, sun dry and air belongings of baby like mattress, covering and bedding.
* Let the baby sleep upright occasionally.
* Make baby wear cotton clothes. The baby's sheets, blankets should be also made of cotton.
* Keep the surrounding smoke free around baby, don't smoke yourself or let anyone else to smoke near baby.
* Make sure your baby sleeps on a firm mattress, avoid certain fluffy toys or baby pillows that could cause suffocation.
* One must not take drugs, drink alcohol or smoke either before or after baby's birth.
