Just like any other muscles, pelvic floor muscles (PC Muscle) can be made stronger by doing pelvic muscle exercises, also called Kegel exercises -- a specific type of exercise that targets the muscles of the pelvic floor.
Rectum, vagina and the urethra in the pelvis are being supported by the pelvic floor and by strengthening these muscles; we can prevent incontinence after vaginal delivery and can also make vaginal childbirth much easier.
1. Kegel Exercises:
The important part before doing the exercise is to find the pelvic floor muscles. You can do this easily by trying to stop the flow of the urine while in the toilet, stop the flow in between and start urinating again. The pelvic floor muscles are the ones you are squeezing to stop the flow. This way you can find the correct muscles and once you know what you're supposed to be contracting, do slow contractions several times a day.
At first you would not be able to hold it for long but with practice you would be able to hold the contraction longer. You can do the exercises in sitting and standing positions such as watching TV, talking to friend, reading book. While you are sneezing, lifting, or jumping, the sudden pressure from such actions can hurt your pelvic muscles so squeeze your pelvic muscles tightly and hold on until after you sneeze, lift, or jump.
2. Use GyneFlex Device While Kegeling:
GyneFlex is an easy to use, comfortable device used for strengthening pelvic floor muscles. A woman can use it for treating urinary leakage as it strengthens and increasing the resting tone of the pelvic floor muscles that support the female organs and hence naturally prevent involuntary incontinence.
It is available in light, regular and firm resistance form and you can pick up the one according to your need and use it while kegeling. Apply lubrication to the gizmo and carry on with your Kegel exercises. The device is also known as ‘The Thigh Master’ for the vaginal muscle. GyneFlex exercise also enhances sexual arousal and sexual response.
3. You must start doing the pelvic floor exercises lying on your back or side and many times women feel easier to do this in the bath as they feel more relaxed. So, the choice is yours.
4. Ben Wa Balls or Ben Wah Balls
Ben Wa Balls or Ben Wah Balls are also known as Love Balls and Pleasure Balls. These are good at strengthening the muscles of the pelvic floor, (PC Muscle).
Ben Wa Balls are weighted balls. Wear these balls for a few hours every day as this will help in strengthening the vaginal sphcinter. This is the best and easiest way to exercise the muscles of the pelvic floor, as the vagina is forced to contract so that it can hold the balls inside.
In addition to that when the muscles are contracted, it rushes blood to that area, that indicates sexual arousal.
