Fun In The Tub
As a baby grows larger, you leave behind small plastic tubs or counter top for bath and shift your attention to bath tub, which is scary for many parents. But with some advice and practice you can make bath time relaxing and fun for both you and your baby.

Make sure bath time occur at the same time, either every day or every other day, or however often bath day is. You can actually make bath time a fun activity that the baby will look forward to with few simple tricks:

Get in tub with baby:

Make your baby sit in a bathtub (make sure your baby can sit on her own so that you don't have to hold her whole time) and you join her, playing together and splashing water can be great fun for both you and your baby. By getting in the bath with the baby, the baby will know that the tub is a safe and secure place.

Wash babies gently and give them time to enjoy water:

After putting baby in the bathtub, gently wash baby and shampoo her hair. By washing baby first, you leave plenty of time for baby to enjoy the warm water and to play. Use a gentle soap as baby's skin is very sensitive during the first year or so. Avoid using oils, lotions and other toiletries on your baby unless a doctor recommends them.

Buy lots of tub toys:

You can use various tub toys including a rubber duck, a small cup, plastic books and plastic containers to keep your baby occupied while you are washing her. Remember to dry off the toys after each use and store them in a dry place.

Try an inflatable bathtub:

The inflatable paddy tubs fits right inside an adult-sized bath tub, making bath time safe and comfortable for your baby or toddler. It reduces all the excess space and hardness of adult bath tubs.

Make bubbles:

Make it a bubble bath play day. Bubbles makes bath time extra fun for babies and big kids too. Blow clouds of bubbles and let them cascade down on your baby. Play with them -- she will love such soapy shower and will be more excited. After all its fun in the tub!

Bath Rings:

If your baby is too small and can't sit on her own you can buy her bath rings, as they are great for such babies by keeping the baby from slipping down into the water.

take fear out of baby bath time

Great article. I had a major fear of bathing my baby after she was born. We tried a wonderful new product that is incredibly simple and works amazingly well. They help to have a great grip on your baby while bathing. My husband uses them too when he showers with our baby. It's called Palm-Palms baby bath grips (www.palm-palms.com).
