How to Introduce Your Baby To Music
Studies has shown that at 20 weeks from conception your unborn baby can hear music. Baby may get startled by sudden sound after birth but after a year they will start enjoying musical beats and can dance by flaying hands up and down. They can imitate sound at six months and by nine months can respond to familiar songs.

Baby starts developing fast from conception to 18 months. Following are the steps to inculcate the music habits in your child:

Pre birth to 18 months

Hear music and sing along to your baby in womb. Listen music as often as you can, make it part of your baby's routine. When your baby makes a sound, make it back. Take baby's hand in yours and clap it in simple songs. Make baby sing with you and dance on music. Babies love to repeat so sing their favorite songs over and over.

18 months to 3 yrs

Make babies listen to simple rhyming songs, such as animals or objects and then sing along with them. Read them stories at night before retiring to bed. Combine body actions with music. Find music for different moods. Let them play simple music instruments like drums, shakers or bells progressing to xylophones, or toy pianos/keyboards. Sometimes sit together and listen to music.

3 to 5 yrs

Child likes to hear their favorite song in repetition, let them choose independently the kind of music tapes or instrument they want to hear. Offer your child a broad range of musical experiences from street artists, local town band, free events to Morris Dancers.
