How to relax in labour?
Giving birth is not easy. When you are in labour try to relax the lower abdomen, pelvic floor, hips and buttocks and thighs, each time a contraction is over. Then go to the general relaxation.

There are certain points in the body where tension tends to accumulate and if you work at relaxing these points, you will quickly achieve relaxation.

1. Start with your forehead. Relax your forehead. Pinch your eyebrows and stroke your forehead.

2. Relax your jaw (relaxed jaw is relaxed vagina).

3. Separate your teeth and let your tongue be static in the middle of your mouth.

4. Relax your shoulders.

5. Relax your elbows. Loosen them and move them away from your body.

6. Relax your hands.

7. Relax your feet.

During contractions you may be struggling hard to relax, but remember that most women are totally free of pain and discomfort in between contractions. This is the perfect time to relax the tensed body parts. You can ask your partner to help you with massage and with reassurance and encouragement. Focussing on your breathing both during and between contractions will help, too.
