IVF has proved to be effective and would mean that a couple can conceive a baby using their own eggs and sperm. The other side could be distressing and painful, as you will have to undergo a lot of medical intervention.
The drugs which are given to boost ovulation can have unpleasant side-effects and you will have to be monitored while you are taking them. Secondly, drugs are real expensive if you have to pay for it yourself.
Tips:
1. Plan beforehand who you are going to tell: You may don't want to tell the world about what you are doing but you also need someone to talk to. Confiding in a colleague or a family member will help.
2. Donating eggs and sperm: There are some clinics which gives priority to couples who are prepared to do this for other couples with fertility problem,, and it may means less wait for treatment.
3. Be good to yourself and do whatever you can to make this manageable for you. Taking afternoon naps, massage, favorite foods, etc.
4. Wear loose clothes as may people get very uncomfortable and even have a lot of pain as the ovaries are stimulated. This may get worse as the follicles ripen.
5. You can learn to give injections yourself. This way you will save time and effort going to doctors surgery for long course of hormones to suppress your ovaries.
6. Just make sure you cleanse the injection site with alcohol after and before injecting.
7. You must know when to stop. It is real hard to give up than it is to begin. You may feel you are letting people down. But IVF is a hard slog, and it can be empowering to decide that it is no longer for you.
8. Don't socialize much during that period. Try to do certain things to take your mind off the process.
9. Try to manage stress in whatever way works best for you. Some suggestions are relaxation or deep breathing exercises, yoga, or meditation.
